Whether one desires solitude for personal reading or a vibrant space for academic deliberations, the library offers suitable arenas. Additionally, it features the world’s most voluminous and highly intelligent book depository. Through the implementation of advanced technological measures, efficient storage and retrieval of books are accomplished, thereby ensuring the safeguarding and perpetuation of knowledge.

3. Accolades and Significance

On October 7, 2024, in Barcelona, Spain, the Beijing City Library distinguished itself among 16 libraries from 10 countries across the globe, clinching the “2024 Public Library Award” bestowed by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). This recognition is not only an affirmation of its functional capabilities and services but also a profound endorsement of its architectural design and cultural value. As a result, it has emerged as one of the most dynamic landmark buildings in the sub – center of Beijing, standing shoulder – to – shoulder with the Beijing Sub – Center Theater, which evokes the imagery of a granary, and the Beijing Grand Canal Museum, resembling a sailboat. Collectively, they constitute the unique architectural tapestry of the urban sub – center.

LOPO Terracotta supplies a diverse range of high – quality building materials for the construction of the Beijing City Library. Notably, the Terracotta Panel utilized in this project is a product of natural firing. It showcases two distinct colors, namely brick – red and sandy beige, with a thickness of 30mm and a total deployment area of 11,783.31 square meters. The color and texture of these panels are meticulously curated, such that the juxtaposition of brick – red and sandy beige not only creates a visually appealing chromatic flow but also resonates with the Chinese crimson – seal motif adorning the building’s apex, thereby achieving a harmonious and unified aesthetic.

2. Precision in Dimension and Installation

The Terracotta Cladding Tile features a variety of face heights, including 420mm, 799mm, and 900mm. Through exacting cutting and assembly techniques during the manufacturing process, these tiles are transformed into triangular columns. During installation, these triangular columns are arranged in a meticulously staggered configuration around the glass curtain wall. Concurrently, thick aluminum plates are interposed between the terracotta and the keel to serve as waterproof sealing elements, with thermal – insulation rock wool attached behind the thick aluminum plates.
